CORPORATE PROJECT ENGINEER
THE COMPANY
This subsidiary was formed in 1988 after a storied $1.6 billion dollar agricultural company acquired their business. The parent company purchased The Company from the family who had owned and operated the business since 1868. The Company operates six full line feed mills, four satellite feed mills supplying the dairy industry, and 11 company-owned feed stores featuring products and supplies for pets, wild birds, horses, lawns, and gardens. Their primary market area is the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic United States. The Company also manufactures and distributes a full line of pet food products throughout the United States and internationally.
The Company is poised for continued growth in a highly competitive marketplace while maintaining its outstanding quality traditions. Recent acquisitions include two privately held processing mills in NY State and Massachusetts.
THE POSITION
The Company seeks to recruit a seasoned Corporate Project Engineer to function independently and productively as an Engineer, providing engineering services to Retail, Manufacturing and Distribution locations. It will be critical that S/he have the ability to travel to any and all of the plant and distribution facilities throughout the northeast and mid-Atlantic regions. The ideal candidate should have the ability to work in a hands-on capacity, manage through influence without direct reports and build credibility within the organization by performing high quality work.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
The position reports to the Vice President Operations.
LOCATION
The position will operate from the corporate headquarters in Londonderry, NH.
TRAVEL
Required to travel 40-50% of the weekly work schedule. Company vehicle provided.
IDEAL PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
The Company seeks a seasoned Corporate Project Engineer with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with varied degrees of complexity.
Essential requirements include:
- Supports Operations and Maintenance to ensure that all equipment is adequately maintained and functions properly.
- Designs and writes technical specifications. Prepares detailed scope of work, construction estimate, and instructions for the fabrication and installation of: Plant equipment, Construction projects, Demolition projects, and Process improvement projects.
- Designs electrical and mechanical systems and sub-systems.
- Prepares capital project requests for bids, evaluate bids, and make recommendations. Oversee and/or perform site investigations.
- Provides technical assistance on problems in maintenance areas.
- Evaluates and prepares economic studies of new or modified facilities.
- Coordinate tests and troubleshoots new installations.
- Coordinates start up and commissioning of new equipment and/or facility operations.
- Maintains parameters within the limits established by Government Regulatory Agencies, and company safety and environmental policies in project preliminary phases, during construction, and project close out.
- Perform and/or direct work necessary to complete final plans, specifications, and installation/construction of assigned projects, ensuring that all applicable standards and regulations are followed.
- Provide project reports and documentation such as functional specifications, operating instructions, maintenance routines, and operating statistics.
- Provide project scopes and specifications to in-house labor, venders, and contractors for accurate budget estimates.
- Monitor, direct, and control activities of consultants and contractors.
- Perform design reviews with designers and process owners.
- Provide overall project control to adhere to budgets, scope, and schedule.
- Ensure all project personnel are working safely and within plant rules, policies, and approved procedures.
- Prepares and submits all environmental regulatory reports.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience in developing project scope and request for proposal/bid. Experience in cost estimating, project budgeting and schedule control. Capable of managing multiple projects through various stages of the planning, design, procurement and construction phase. Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office applications and Microsoft Project.
EDUCATION
The individual must possess a B.S. Degree in Mechanical, Agricultural or Chemical Engineering. MBA a plus.

COMPENSATION
