
Executive Search for Maintenance Manager
Position Description
Our client, a fortune 500 Michigan food company, has engaged Resource, Inc. to recruit and assist in the successful hire of a high impact Maintenance Manager. The client has a storied history of providing high quality food and beverage products in both the US and internationally. The client is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to deliver reliability to packaging and processing systems as well as possess a fundamental knowledge of lean manufacturing.
Responsibilities
Develops and implements cost control and strategic goals for the Maintenance Department.
He/she plans and coordinates long-term packaging, processing, building maintenance and wastewater treatment activities.
Responsible for the successful transition of line set-up, adjustment, and change-over procedures to the packaging department by utilizing available resources from packaging, sanitation, maintenance and engineering.
Must be familiar with 3 shift manufacturing techniques, quick changeover technology, technical skills training programs, etc.
Utilization of reliable manufacturing techniques – preventive/predictive maintenance, computerized maintenance management systems, etc.
Responsible for planning and executing routine maintenance as well as major repairs on all plant, property, grounds, and equipment
Works with and provides support to all manufacturing (processing, packaging, shipping and receiving) and engineering operations
Responsible for budget development / management; people management and development; labor contract administration
Requirements
Prior experience as Maintenance Manager in medium / large manufacturing plant – food / beverage preferred; continuous operations beneficial
Successful implementation of predictive / preventive maintenance programs
Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing techniques
Production floor savvy / conference room savvy
Experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, and delivery
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications, and presentation skills
Experience in a union environment is crucial
The Plant Facility
- 500,000 square feet under roof
- Total plant employment – 325 – 280 hourly, of which 45 are hourly maintenance mechanics and electricians – 3 Maintenance Supervisors, Maintenance Planner, and Buyer
- Hourly employees are represented by the RWDSU – affiliated with the UFCW
- Reports to the Plant Engineer – Plant Engineer reports to Plant Director
- Plant operates some manufacturing operations on 3 shifts; all operations at least two shifts – 5 to 6 days per week, occasionally 7 days per week
Education
- BSME or similar Degree with 6-8 years experience
Compensation
- Base salary up to mid 80’s Bonus Incentive 10-12% target
